I got this awesome piece yesterday from Yaeko Abe. I have known her for a while we studied illustration together at FIT and lived in Queens as wacky art student roommates like a reality tv show, well like a hungrier sad-er version of I just want my pants back, that show drives me nuts its on target and then really off at the same time. So anyway what I love about Yaeko’s work is her Edward Gorey meets Barbie with a splash of fashion and a nod to her Japanese roots aesthetic. She has already had an insanely successful career as a professional toy designer and is definitely shooting into the stratosphere of the art cosmos in terms of riding that new art wave that is hitting the Etsy shores right now. What can I say? Art is always in style. Oh and she can just draw this out of her head with out reference, and she favors ink, watercolor and marker. I want more!!
